A brief history of the Chicago & North Western Iowa Division mainline, now part of the Overland Route:

06/26/21

This standard concrete slab bridge crosses 4th Street in Clinton.
Built in 1923, this bridge is one of two subways crossing streets in Clinton. This structure was built both by the Chicago & North Western and the Milwaukee Road.
Containing three spans, the bridge will likely be demolished along with the main Swing Bridge in 2025.
Overall, the bridge is in poor condition. Severe spalling and cracking has begun on the structure.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
